I am a photographer currently based in beautiful Port Douglas, Queensland. My interest in photography coincided with the discovery of travel, and my idea of pure heaven is being out and about with a camera, close to beautiful scenery and a nice bite to eat. And this is very easy given where I currently live; world heritage rainforest and reef on our doorstop, and the most captivating and colourful flora and fauna (as well as as some great food!). I passionately believe that the eye of a photographer is more important than a technical ability - the scene needs to be seen before it can be captured. What I see (and appreciate) is light, how it filters through a canopy onto a leaf below, how it naturally falls and lights up a subject, how the morning or evening light just creates a magic on everything it touches. It is always changing, and so the camera needs to always be ready…
I trained in Melbourne (Photography Studies College), practiced nationally and overseas, and am now just loving capturing the beautiful far north of Australia.
As well as art photography, I have captured events for local community groups. I am an active member of the local Photography Association, and have won various awards at their annual Exhibition (including Grand Champion), and have been recognised in national/international photo competitions.
